Trek-this 8 km long trek is a very high altitude trek. So high that even the lake freezes during winters. This trek is in the opposite direction of Triund. It is a hike through pine and oak woods to get to the lake.The difficulty of this trek is moderate, but one can encounter some steep uphill climbs so it is advised to hire a guide and gear up properly before starting this amazing trek.
Minkiani Pass Trek
It is one of the most offbeat trek in Mcleodganj. The trail of this trek seems like a pathway to heaven as it moves through clouds and high peaks. This 14 km trek includes an overnight camp in the village. Due to the steepness of this pass, it is very exciting trek but also on the other hand a little difficult for the beginners.
Bhagsu Nag Trek
This short and refreshing trek is about 4 km long. There two places to visit on this trek, one is the Bhagsu temple which is dedicated to lord Shiva, other is the Bhagsu Nag water fall which is just 20 minutes away from the temple. Visitors often drench themselves in the cold waterfall after the trek as it is quite refreshing and fun. This trek is comparatively easier than other treks.
this is amoderately difficult trek. Trek to this pass quite mesmerizing and captivating. This trek to the top of the dhauladhar peak of height 14,160 ft is almost 9km long and can help frequent trekkers improve their skills. This trek takes 6-7 hrs to reach the destination.
Triund is a small hill station in Kangra district near Mcleodganj. A green meadow situated on top of a hill which provides magnificent views of the Dhauladhar Mountains. it is one most popular trek around Dharamshala. Its moderate difficult trek of about 9 kms but also can be done by beginners without any problems.
The nights in Triund are so beautiful with star lit sky and the all lit up Kangra valley that it surely won’t let you sleep. The duration of this trek is usually 2 days 1 night including camping at the top, but this can also be complete in 1 day without camping. To get to Triund, person needs to move from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj from where the trek starts. The best time to trek here is from March to December.
Visiting in jun July is not advisable due to heavy rains. January and February experience heavy snowfall hence should be avoided. Carrying a lighter back is advised as one should carry only small amount of snacks and not carry heavy load as there are 2 cafes on the trail.
