Chokling Monastery

Chokling Monastery is one of the main attractions of Bir. It houses a grand stupa as well as a statue of Padmasambhava. This monastery is located in the Bir Tibetan colony. It was established in the 1960s, after the exile of Tibetans. Visitors can sit through the prayers. On rare occasions, the lamas perform ritual dances which are worth watching. The Palpung Sherabling Monastery is a religious center that offers Buddhist studies and other forms of living art and culture and Periodic courses in Buddhist meditation and philosophy. The monastery complex has a school, college, and university to learn about Buddha’s past, present, and future. More than 1200 monks are in the institute. The complex is located in the middle of the forest, surrounded by pine trees. This makes this place a perfect spot for getting a peaceful experience.
